WHAT IS IT

Approaching DEFCON 31 the question was asked, how to take the Flipper Zero to the next level?

Our answer: put it onto an original Power Glove.

What began as a simple project, with minimal glove edits, has now evolved to be something that is canon to DEFCON, and now includes gesture recognition.

Raspberry Pi

Runs a custom script to interpret gesture recognition.

Took the original Power Glove design and modified it with a case we found. Left space below the Flipper for NFC.

HOW IT CAME TOGETHER

ITERATION 01

Modular proof of concept

First iteration had more modularity, with velcro to hold parts we hot-swapped via GPIO — such as a Wi-Fi dev board, Sub GHz module, and an infrared blaster made and taped onto the tip of a finger.

ITERATION 02

Gesture recognition arrives

Second iteration, which can be seen today, replaced the sensors and added the Pi — at a sacrifice of some additional utility.

ITERATION 03 — NEXT UP

Multiplexing and beyond

Our next iteration, v3, will explore GPIO "multiplexing" to get more capabilities, replace the pressure sensors with something better, and possibly make room for more tech. We're also researching casting new gloves to help preserve the original Power Gloves out there, and so others can follow along for DIY builds themselves.
